Europe ’77 to ’81 (study, performing, teaching, directing), then NYC (same stuff, but in English). Stand-up, some TV, multiple cartoon voices. Performance artist and curator, including a season at The Public Theatre. A decade of Grade Z motion pictures. One feature film as writer/director, international award winner, Cracking Up. Numerous essays including “Art and Therapy” in New Directions in Psychotherapy (1980). Screenplays, plays, more essays, and a few works of fiction. Founded Theatre Group Dzieci (http://dziecitheatre.org) in 1997, an experimental ensemble, which balances work on performance with work of service. The company presents in schools, hospitals, theaters, and houses of worship, including The Cathedral Saint John the Divine, where their signature piece, Fools Mass, has been an annual event for the past thirteen seasons. Matt and Dzieci are featured in the anthology, Working on the Inside: The Spiritual Life Through the Eyes of Actors, and profiled in The Encyclopedia of Religion. Matt will be performing with Dzieci in Makbet, a Gypsy ritual of Macbeth, 10/19 and 10/20 at The Old Stone House in Brooklyn.

Locals note: Matt and his wife, Karen, have been responsible for the annual black light Halloween puppet show extravaganza on Garfield Place in Park Slope for the past twenty-something years.
